Working Principle of Livestock Heat Pumps

Nov 20, 2025

Livestock heat pumps mainly consist of components such as a compressor, condenser, evaporator, and throttling device. Taking an air-source livestock heat pump as an example, in heating mode, the evaporator absorbs heat from the air, causing the low-temperature, low-pressure refrigerant liquid to evaporate into a low-temperature, low-pressure refrigerant gas. This gas is then compressed by the compressor, transforming it into a high-temperature, high-pressure refrigerant gas, which enters the condenser. In the condenser, the high-temperature, high-pressure refrigerant gas transfers heat to the air or water in the livestock area, cooling and condensing into a high-pressure liquid. This liquid is then throttled and depressurized by the throttling device, becoming a low-temperature, low-pressure liquid again, and re-enters the evaporator. This cycle repeats, achieving continuous heating. The cooling mode works in reverse; by adjusting valves, the functions of the evaporator and condenser are switched, achieving cooling of the livestock environment.
