The R410A refrigerant commonly used in traditional air-source heat pumps has a global warming potential (GWP) as high as 2088, whereas R32 has a GWP of only 675, a reduction of over 67%. Compared to the phased-out R22 refrigerant, the GWP of R32 is reduced by about 70%. Large-scale promotion of R32 air-source heat pumps can significantly reduce the 'carbon footprint' of the HVAC industry and directly cut greenhouse gas emissions from the refrigerant usage stage.

    The split-type air conditioner consists of an indoor and outdoor unit structure, enabling high-efficiency heat exchange to provide cooling, heating, and domestic hot water year-round. It is a new-generation cold and hot water device that integrates low-carbon environmental protection, high energy efficiency, flexible installation, and multifunctionality.
    Spatial Partitioning and Flexible Deployment The split system independently places the heat-generating, noisy, and space-consuming compressor-condensing unit (external unit) outdoors, while only installing the heat exchange terminal (wall-mounted, floor-standing, or hydro-plate indoor units) indoors. The external unit can be mounted on exterior walls, balconies, or equipment shafts, while the compact indoor unit can be installed in ceilings, walls, or corners, perfectly adapting to confined architectural environments such as high-rise residences, small apartments, street-facing shops, and offices. The monolithic unit cannot be externally mounted on high-rise exterior walls, as its weight, size, and vibrations pose safety risks. In contrast, the lightweight external unit of the split system allows single or double-person installation for standard 1–6-ton R32 models, fully meeting building exterior wall load-bearing requirements.
    Isolating the impact of harsh outdoor conditions on the indoor environment. In winter, the outdoor unit must absorb the heat from the cold outdoor air, while in summer, it expels hot air outward. If it is a monolithic unit, placing the entire machine in the indoor equipment room would continuously emit heat and noise into the space. The split structure isolates all heat sources and wind noise outdoors, leaving only the heat exchange terminal indoors, which does not occupy indoor space or raise the indoor temperature, preventing stuffiness in the equipment room or balcony.
     Renovation of Old Houses Without Civil Engineering Barriers For self-built homes, old residential areas, and second-hand home renovations, it is difficult to separately create a machine room for installing a monolithic heat pump. A split heat pump only requires drilling a small refrigerant pipe hole through the wall, eliminating the need for wall demolition, machine room expansion, or civil engineering for equipment foundations. The renovation workload is extremely low, which is entirely unachievable with a monolithic heat pump.
